Blinds offer different types of fabric density from ultra transparent to room darkening. You can even specify fabrics of two densities on the same blind. Such factors as transparency, light transmission, solar reflection, solar transmission, thermal insulation, and UV transmission are what make blinds so unique as window treatments.
One of the fundamental tasks of blinds is to reduce or allow a certain amount of light into a room. Light transmission is measured as a percentage, the lower the figure the more effective the material. When considering light transmission, you may also want to consider the factor of heat through windows, especially during winter months. |
